Subject-repository

Subject-based repositories collect publications and grey-literature in a particular discipline or a range of disciplines. ArXiv.org for the sciences and Social Sciences Research Network (SSRN) are good examples. Note that the last one has recently been bought by Elsevier, which makes it vulnerable for commercially driven decisions.
