Analyze Linkages Between Academic Research And Inventions

We are sure that science and technology influences and enables industry. But how do we map this and measure it? And how do we improve it? The Lens has mined the global patent literature for citations of scholarly published work, and provides free and open tools to explore which articles influence what patents, held by what institutions. Investors and funding agencies can find whether the science they fund enables outcomes for society through new inventions and products. Using this toolkit you can track, filter, sort, and link scholarly articles that are cited in patents, examine the citing patents, and discover new partners and collaborators. Influence Mapping provides an evidence base to guide decision-making and enables improved public policies and institutional practices.

Scite plugin

scite is a Brooklyn-based startup advancing citations with the introduction of smart citations. Using deep learning scite has classified 450 million citation statements from 14 million scientific articles that support, contradict, or mention prior research. Scite is used by researchers from dozens of countries and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.

The scite plugin allows you to easily see if a scientific article has been supported or contradicted anywhere you’re reading a scientific article online.

How it Works

Using machine learning we scan hundreds of thousands of scientific papers every day, classifying them by whether they support, contradict, or just mention the papers they’re citing.

Once analyzed, they are added to our database and are searchable within scite.
